Pukeko Readers

Charli, Annabelle and Ella showed great concentration and focus when looking at the books. They each had a book to look at, while Annabelle pointed and chatted with the teacher about her book. She touched the fur of the cat in the touch and feel 'Cat and Kittens' book.

I Care Tree - Preschool

The "I Care Tree" in the Weka Room (Preschool), promotes thoughtful, positive behaviours from the children.
Each fruit recognises a specific action and virtue the children display over the course of their day.
Gaining a fruit to place on the tree motivates the children to be kind and caring to others, to demonstrate great listening skills, to be a great helper to both friends and teachers and to also practice problem solving for themselves in different contexts. Take a look at the 'I Care Tree" below.

Grandparent's Day

On Friday 14th March we will be having our annual "Grandparents Day" as you may have read on our calendar on the blog. We would love you to bring in photos of the children's grandparents so the teachers can make a grandparent board in their honour. This is very special for all the children to have a photo of their grandparents displayed on the board and gives them a sense of belonging. Could you please give all appropriate photos the Head Teachers. We will look forward to seeing all the lovely photos.
More information will follow about this special day.

Pukeko Room Bean Bags

The Pukeko Room have just acquired some bean bags. We have had lots of fun climbing all over them and playing with the staff and parents on them too. Sometimes it has been quite challenging climbing all over the bean bags but we get there in the end.

Sold ... To The Highest Bidder

Elena Keith, the mother of Spike and Ivy, who attend Bayfield, is organising the Pindrop Online Charity Auction 2008 to raise money for bionic ears for profoundly deaf people. Elena got a cochlear implant 9 months ago enabling her to hear again and she is keen to help others like her.
To help make the auction a success, Pindrop Foundation is looking for donated goods, services, unique experiences and signed memorabilia for the auction. Can you help with sourcing donated goods and services? If so, they'd love to hear from you. Phone Elena Keith at the Pindrop foundation: 09 360 0707 or email Elena@pindrop.org.nz
The auction will kick off on Sunday, April the 13th, 2008 on www.trademe.co.nz and all donated goods and services will start at $1 reserve. Anything you can think of that people might want to bid on would be appreciated. It's a great opportunity for corporates to promote their goods and services and even better, they're helping to change people's lives.
