Preschool Christmas News

The Children's Christmas Party was a whole lot of fun this year as usual. Children raced around playing on playgrounds, getting faces painted, eating delicious party food and generally having a ball with friends and family.
We also had a new visitor to the Christmas Party - Cornflake the Clown and for those of you that have seen him in action, you will know how great he is with children and adults alike. We also had an old and familiar friend drop by - Santa of course, who delivered lots of fabulous gifts to the very deserving children - what fun!!!
A big thank you to everyone that contributed to making this a party to remember.

Toddler Christmas News

A few photos from the Christmas Party at Western Springs. We all had a wonderful time. The Toddler team would like to wish all our families and friends a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Have a safe and happy holiday and we shall see you all in the New Year.

Children's Christmas Party - Nursery

What great fun was had on Friday night at the children's Christmas party.
After some worrying weather earlier in the week it was a gorgeous evening as we got together down at Western Springs. Cornflake the Clown entertained us with his show and Santa arrived with lollies and presents for all the children.
A big thank you to all those who made the effort to come, it's great to see the families together and always interesting to see our babies outside of the centre.
Merry Christmas to all, have a safe holiday and we'll see you in the new year.
Sonia and the Nursery Team

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank ALL the parents and whanau for all the support - It has been an awesome year and it has been a pleasure getting to know the parents and children who are leaving. We are looking forward to getting to know the new Nursery children next year and their parents and another great year.

Lost shoes

A pair of red spiderman sandals (size 9) has disappeared from the Preschool. These shoes had the name 'Levi' marked on them and were a brand new pair of shoes. Please check your child's belongings in case they have been placed in the wrong bag.
Thanks for your co-operation.

Mini is Leaving

We are sad to inform you that Mini is leaving us! She will be starting work in a Christian Preschool closer to her home in the new year. The philosophy of the other centre, combined with the ability to work part time informed this decision for her. Mini has been with us for 4 years now and will be greatly missed.
We wish Mini all the best in her new appointment. Her last day will be the 24th December 2008.

Mursery News - Transitioning!!

It's been a transitioning week!
Phew, what a busy week it has been. We are getting ready for the New Year and we are starting to transition some of our Tuatara children to the Toddler Room. Annabelle, Bailey, Emelia, Ella, Will and Sophie have had a great time exploring the new envionrment and getting to know their new teachers.
Jack has been making the most of the quiet time in the Tuatara Room and has been doing some settling. It will probably be next year before he says goodbye to his Pukeko friends for good, but he is having a great time visiting in the meantime.
We also take this opportunity to welcome Anna to the Pukeko Room.
Check out the photos to see just how much fun there has been!

An Amendment to Fee Increase Billing Period

Please note that the billing period from which the fee increase is effective is the 2nd February to 27th February 2009, not the one stated in the previous blog entry.

2009 Fee Increase

Dear Parents
This is to inform you that the fees will be increasing as from February 2009. This will impact on the February invoice and the billing period of 4th February to 29th February 2009. These fees are payable 1st February 2009. The increase is as follows:

Under 2 rate

Full week - $ 305.00
Full Day - $ 70.00
Part Day - $ 57.00

Over 2 rate:

Full week - $ 280.00
Full Day - $ 65.00
part Day - $ 50.00

The fee rate for the 3 year olds will of course be less the 20 hour subsidy.
We are sure you realize that the cost of living has increased tremendously over the past year. Our fees are still approximately 20% less than comparable local childcare centre.
If you have any queries or concerns please speak to me.

Preschool Parent's Corner

As many of you may have noticed, we have moved the couch from the Book Corner into what we now call our Parent Corner (under the new and improved parent notice board). This will give you the opportunity to sit down, relax and enjoy your child's Profile Book (with your child) in what will hopefully be a nice, comfortable environment. Also, beside the couch you will find a small table. On this table are clear files and scrapbooks. These contain our daily happenings and special events/trips. Please feel free to look through and talk about the pictures and stories with your child.
It's great to see this corner already getting some good use and we hope to see more of you enjoying it too.
Still on the topic of new and improved , we have started a notice board dedicated to daily happenings with Preschool. You will find this located on the wall opposite the door leading to the Parent Corner. Have a look and see if you can spot your child involved in their play.
