Salisbury Road - Park

Last week we had our trip to the local park down the road from our centre on Salisbury Road and it was a great success!! We all walked down the road and had a fantastic picnic at the park after A LOT of playing! The day started off nice and sunny and it just kept getting better from there! All the children had a lot of fun!
This week was also great for our new friend William, who has started full days in the Pukeko Room and he is settling in very well. Great job, William! Georgia is also doing a fantastic job in the Tuatara Room and learning the ropes very quickly of life here at Bayfield. Well done, Georgia! A very exciting week here at Bayfield in the Nursery!

Check out the two albums below. More photos will follow.

Natural Collage - Preschool

Natural Collage

As the weather is starting to change, certain trees are dropping really interesting objects such as acorns, pine cones and leaves. If you have such a tree, could you (and your child) bring in some of these things for our collage table. Thank you!!!

Preschool News

Kia Ora!
Preschool children had another fantastic week. Currently our children's interests are water play and creative art. This week the children enjoyed creating beautiful pieces of artwork with various art tools.
We are also very delighted to inform parents that our exercise class is resuming from next Monday.
Our children are little scientists at the moment and we are needing some natural items such as pine cones, shells, bottle caps etc to encourage their inventiveness and curiosity.
We hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.

NURSERY NEWS

Kia Ora. We would like to say thank to all the grandparents who showed enthusiasm for Grandparents Day and spent some valued time with their grandchildren in the Nursery.
We really had a busy week as children kept themselves involved in different activities. The children were trying to figure out how different things work, such as playing with locks and the phone under an adult's supervision and trying to put on their shoes and their hats on their head.
Music and movement was another popular activity. The children enjoyed holding different props such as pois and ribbons while dancing.
Our all time favourite mat time became more interesting when Ava took the initiative to start the mat time outside.
Our favourite mat time song is as follows:

PEANUT
Peanut sitting on a railway track,
my heart was all a flutter,
Train came rolling down the track,
TOOT TOOT, crash, peanut butter!
The driver got out of the train
and he began to mutter,
such a shame to leave it on the track
cause I love peanut butter!
(lick, lick, lick)

Toddler Museum Trip

Lately the children have been showing a strong interest in insects. To extend this interest and allow the children to explore more insects we are going on our first trip for the year to the Auckland Museum. This will be happening on Thursday, the 26th March and we hope you can come and join us on our insect expedition. The ratio of adults to children will be one adult to two children. We are leaving the centre at 9.30 a.m. and will be travelling by bus to the museum and leaving to return to Bayfield at 12.30 p.m. So everyone needs to be here by 9.00 a.m. at the latest, so children can have morning tea and get ready. The cost will be $ 17.00 per child and this covers bus, entry to museum and weird and wonderful.
Below is the itinerary for the day:

9.30 a.m. Board bus and leave Bayfield
10.00 a.m. Arrive at Auckland Museum, Go discover weird and wonderful and
the rest of the Museum.
11.30 a.m. Lunch time
12.30 p.m. Board bus and leave museum

Please return your permission slip by Monday 23rd March.

Nursery Picnic

PICNIC TIME!!
The children have been really interested in exploring our natural resources lately so we thought that we would take a trip to the reserve on Salisbury Street so we can explore some more.

Date: 27th March
Time: 9.30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

We will leave from the centre after morning tea and walk to the park (with the younger children in buggies) taking a picnic lunch with us. We will need at least 7 parent helpers to make this trip happen so please lend a hand, giving us a ratio of a minimum of 1:2.
Please return the permission slip by Monday 9th March so that we can confirm our plans.

GRANDPARENTS DAY WITH THE PRESCHOOL!!

We would like to thank all the grandparents who attended our Grandparents/Whanau day. It was a great turn out and the children enjoyed it.
We had a lovely mat time, the children enjoyed singing "noisy ted' and listening to a book about Grandmas.
The Grandparents had the opportunity to have a look at the children's profile books which they extremely enjoyed.

On Thursday Bayfield had a very special day. It was grandparents day at the centre. Toddlers had lots of grandparents come to visit. The children were very excited about their special visitors.
The children showed the grandparents their profile books, they had some music and movement and they even made towers and rockets.
What fun the children had showing their grandparents how the spend their day at Bayfield!
