Board Story Fun

Today a small group of children had a great time with the board stories this morning. In this video is the first board story we did. It is called Farm Yard Fun and we all had fun at exploring what sounds, habitats and food each animal ate on the farm. Each child contributed their own sound effects and had the ability to share their own experiences of being on a farm.
Hope you enjoy the little snippet.

Christchurch Appeal

Meher (Nursery teacher) is facilitating the collection of household items for Christchurch residents relocating to Auckland.  If you have any spare blankets, children's clothes or kitchen utensils that you are able to donate to this cause, Meher would be very grateful.  You can leave these in the staffroom and if this is locked, please see Meher in the Nursery.  These items will be collected by the Salvation Army  and distributed to those in need.
Thanking you in anticipation.

Staff Changes

Sonia is not returning from maternity leave to her position as Head Teacher in the Nursery.  She has decided to stay home and spend time with her new son, Kael.  Cassandra and Marama are doing an excellent job in there at the moment.  When Marama goes on maternity leave, Cassandra will be taking over as the Head Teacher in the Nursery and Helen Hart will be taking the position of Assistant Head Teacher.  This will all commence on the week beginning Monday, 23rd of May, 2011.

A tad here, a tad there.

Our new Tadpole (the one and only tadpole that didn’t get eaten by the goldfish) had a very dramatic week in the preschool room.

We came in on Friday morning only to find that our tadpole had gone missing. We had to think for a moment, to come to the conclusion, that maybe he wasn’t a tadpole anymore. We looked all over the place, but our slimy little friend was nowhere to be seen and we thought he was a goner for sure. But little did we know that later that day when Cindy saw a little shadow from the corner of her eye, our tadpole was a lovely green frog.

We were happy that we found our newly evolved friend safe. Now our tadpole can play safe and sound in its tank.

The week of 11/03/2011! What we did....

We have had a good week in Preschool, making most of the lovely weather. The pirate ship has been a popular place to be, using our imagination!
We have a new student spending some time with us and the children just love hanging out with her. Next time you see Veronique, just introduce yourself, she would love to meet you all.
We had our object basket with the children bringing in objects starting with 'E'.
French class was a whole heap of fun.
We also spent some time with our new teacher, Catherine, getting to know her.
