2. Spray shaving cream on table top
3. Add glitter
4. Use hands to mix.

Optional Extras
Children can write their names, draw pictures and patterns, take prints using black paper and use cloths or sponges to clean up at the end of play.

Nursery News

The Nursery staff and children would like to welcome Jasper, who started in the Pukeko Room and Ben, in the Tuatara Room.
The children in the Pukeko Room have been spending some time in the Tuatara Room this week. They had fun helping Karen making the play dough and playing with the shredded paper.
While it rained outside, the children were occupied and busy doing different activities such as dancing, drawing, reading books together and playing with the play dough.
Luckily when the sun decided to show up, we managed to go outside for a run!

Waiting lists in the Nursery

If you have a child CURRENTLY on the wait list and due to start over the next few months but wanting a space sooner do contact me as soon as possible. We have a few spaces coming up over the next couple of months. Please note this is only open to parents who are ALREADY on the wait list as your number is already accounted for either later on this year of up to March, April of next year.

This opportunity does not often come up as our wait lists are usually booked out to a year.

please note that only certain days are available.

kind regards

Shona

Trips in Preschool

In regards to the slight confusion about parent helping on our trips in Preschool here are a few messages which we hope will clarify things for the future. All of our trip helpers will now be selected by ballot, when they choose to help out on our trips. However, if you have helped out on a trip recently, others will be given the opportunity before you and these will be in a blind selection.

Each trip will have a ratio of 1 to 3 and this will mean that the cost of trips will increase slightly. If there are any questions you have about trips or our new procedure please see Karen or Shona.

Thank you Jenny for your contributions and ideas for this change in procedure.

Preschool Stardome Trip

On Monday, the 11th August, Preschool went on a trip to the "Stardome."
The children loved exploring all the wonderful things inside. They got to wear magic glasses, learnt a new word - "Spectrum" and watched a movie about aliens and planets.
After this interesting experience we had fun playing at the playground.
A big thank you to all the parent helpers.

Garden Delight - Preschool

Recently Karen (Our Head Handy Woman) has knocked out part of a fence in our outdoor environment to expose an area with a lovely tree. The children absolutely adore exploring this once enclosed tree and now you will often see 5 or 6 children hanging from the branches.
There will continue to be changes to our outdoor environment as we work on plans that will enable children to get in amongst the gardens and nature. This will involve using lots of different materials, such as river stones, pieces of tree trunk, native grasses, shrubs and paving stories. We hope to involve the chidlren as much as we can in this process. See attached photos of children in the tree.

Preschool Planning

We have done our planning for the children according to their interests.
This is based around the co-virtues of:
* Responsibility
* Honesty
* Friendliness
We are focusing on the areas of outer space, exercise, movement and responsibility. We would like to encourage you to talk to your child about these virtues. For ideas/inspirations look at our planning wall.

Nursery's Friend O.T.

Today, our friend O.T. came to visit. He is our teacher's pet rabbit.
We took turns feeding him lettuce, celery, spinach and carrots. We were really excited and happy to see him. We loved patting his soft fur and his long ears.
