Weka Weekly Board - Preschool
If you are not already aware, this is our "Weka Weekly Board." It is located directly above the Profile Books in the Preschool Room. All the action and fun packed learning that occurs throughout our day is displayed here. Other items of interest that the children or teachers bring in are placed here too. Whether it be a brilliant piece of art, information about our French class, cool photos or a relevant article from the paper - this is where it will be!
You will also find The Virtue and The Artist of the Week here. So please take the time to check out what the children have been up to over the week.

Birthday Cakes In The Centre
We are considering our options at the moment regarding the practice of bringing in birthday cakes for the children. There are 2 reasons for this.
* Allergies: There are several children in the centre with allergies, particularly egg allergy and whereas our centre is egg and nut free we cannot guarantee any food from home will be the same. Of course, children with allergies have an alternative to the birthday cake such as marshmallows.
* Healthy food options: We do try to offer the children healthy food at meal breaks and sometimes, the number of birthday cakes that come in to the centre contradict what we are trying to do.

Butterfly Creek Trip
On Monday morning the Preschool room went to Butterfly Creek. We had a blast!
We saw beautiful tropical fish, walked through the butterfly hot house, watched the crocodiles being feed and rode on the train past all the farm animals. What a fun, busy day! Luckily the drive home was on a BIG, comfy bus...some of us even fell asleep. ZZzzzzz.
Thank you to the wonderful parents who volunteered to join us on this trip, we really appreciated your help and enjoyed your company. See attached photos.

The Singing Stars of Preschool
Recently in Preschool the children have been enjoying singing and dancing in front of their peers during mat times.
A wall display has been made to show off our very talented children in action. For the last two Fridays we have had the opportunity to play "Singstar" which is a karaoke style game played on PS2 console.
The game requires the children to sing into microphones whilst watching the tv screen. As they sing a blue or red line comes up and the children can see the pitch they are singing at. Although the children do not know all the words to the songs they can hum along and have just as much fun! See attached photos.
